mystery plug
Don't believe this is particular to the w209's, and I am not sure I am posting in the right area but I am sure someone will straighten me out on that
Anyway, I replaced the crank sensor and noticed some brittle, fried out conduit to a plug just under maf. Tried searching here and www with no results. What does this plug on the top rear of this 320, directly under MAF connect to?

not that
it plugs into, what looks like a sensor, at the rear of the engine block, just forward of 12 o'clock on the bell housing. Maybe I should google up location of all sensors. I will post answer, if I locate it.

Good pic of a 320 crankshaft position sensor.
no luck. Knock sensor, perhaps...unusual location for that. Here is a good pic showing the location of the crankshaft sensor at 10 o'clock. The one in question is at 12 o'clock but all you can see is the plastic conduit running to the plug. Going to reinstall my engine, now. :-)

On second thought, I think you are right, Rodney. I will never doubt you, again! I sent info to Pelican and get a confirmation on that. Could not really see it until I found this pic

The knock sensors are under the intake manifold. That harness at 12 o'clock is the connector for the throttle body. And that plastic flex duct does get brittle and melt. It's not a problem.
