W209 CLK Quad Exhaust-diffuser answer
I have a CLK with AMG bumper and want to do the quad exhaust conversion. And put in the VIS Diffuser later to fit the cuts for the Quad exhaust cutouts. Since all the other components are easier to get it the VIS that will take time so I wanted to go ahead with this
I continued this thread so it is easier to search on and most information found in one spot while I waited for the parts to come in.
Below is the link to the orginal question started by caliguy
https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...d-exhaust.html
With some of the critical dimensions and intel provided by Fatz. Great guy! So with that I can still put on the difuser later after the cuts. A bit risky but I think there is enough room to do it safely, leaving some material to cut off later when diffuser is installed if needed.
This is the start with the before shot wtih AMG bumper.

After the exchanges with Fatz and KB24forlife24's I got the cutting plan for the bumper. With some caliper measured dimensions so cool as getting that close is good enough. With repeated measuring and taping seeing what looked right so the similar arc of the cut to look close to what it should be.
A=1.37 B=11.75 C=1.9 *These dimensions I used conservatively with a lot of looking and "guestimating" at how it fits also checking against the size of the Eurostyle tips that arrived.

So the Muffler is a Magnaflow 12267, already ordered.
Also got the Eurostyle tips for a C63 style Quad tips,CLK,SLK ,W208 W209,W164 from blackthez59 on EBAY. This shipped from Hawai! but no worries priority mail delivered just in time as stated
So started by drawing the cut dimensions starting with dimension A and C as borders. Then getting the curvature right also measuring the width of the tips so the hole stays in proportion leaving enough material to cut out for the diffuser later.
Using the Dremel with an abrasive wheel with control carefully cut along the drawn marking inside the line(clear the wheel do not try to cut too long) and finish with a hacksaw blade to cut through the support ribs.
(Picture is cutting on right side but is same process)
finished the first cut. Now make a pattern from it !

Using the PDF Fatz made also to guide the cut --- this is link:https://mbworld.org/forums/attachmen...-alignment.pdf
Use pattern flip over from the left side and measure same starting point A and the bottom edge off the inlay or C to guide the placement from 2 points. Lay pattern on and trace very carefully. Check and correct visually compare to other side for balance.
I did use less than 11.75" that leaves material to cut for diffuser-- width of the tips was 9.5" plenty safe...
This was partial cut then just follow through and refine by eyeball untill all looks straight and clean.
Finish by following the lines to smooth out, deburr--take less goes a long way

This is from the Muffler shop, they took a bit longer than expected but they spent time making sure the tips looked balanced and evenly, spaced and level! But they still finished the same day. Was excellent service and good workmanship.
THE FINISHED PRODUCT :
Satisfied with the quad in place!!! Now just need the diffuser!!!
