Voice recognition to run the factory comand system? I'm pretty sure there is no such thing.

Actually, there is. It was also called "Linguatronic". I know it was available for the MY2005 W209 (it's mentioned in the owner's manual), but the option may have been discontinued as I see no mention of it in my MY2007 owner's manual. With the option, there is a stalk on the right side of the steering column, symmetrical to the cruise control stalk on the left. It allows for voice control of COMAND including functions for navigation, cell phone and audio. I can't find the CLK version, but look here around page 190 and you'll see what it can do:

http://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/DigitalA...-R-G-Class.pdf

I seem to recall many years ago, a W163 owner was able to retrofit VCS to his ML. Looking at the components in WIS, I believe all you need is the VCS control module (that mounts in the trunk) and the stalk assembly (it's both the cruise stalk and VCS stalk in one unit). There may be some wiring harnesses need, but I would doubt it, since this is all CAN and MOST bus driven. I don't see any retrofit instructions in WIS, though.

A2098201385 is the latest revised part number for the Linguatronic controller. There are other par number that might work:

A2038205785
A2038206785
A2038207585
A2038200385

Any of those numbers I listed should work. The higher numbers are just higher revisions. Sometimes a revision is done to fix a particular problem, other times, it adds features or compatibility with other revised parts.

That is not a listed part number in EPC for the CLK, so I doubt it will work.

You have to watch eBay - its "compatible vehicle parts" system doesn't always work correctly. Let us know how this turns out. Retrofits like this can be uncharted territory.

Actually, the order is not important. Just make sure the ring is maintained as a complete "circuit".

The fiber optic system is a closed loop. If you find any "open" connectors, then they are not part of the loop. You will find some of these around the vehicle, used for options not installed. This is very hard to explain in text, and I don't have any good photos, but what you have to do is find a spot on the fiber where there is an inline splice. Remove the splice, then "borrow" an unused connector and put the two parts in there so you can plug into the VCM.

I don't know how to activate it without the lever - it's all done via CAN bus controls. Keep us posted on the final results when you get the lever installed.

A2038208285 just seems like a later revision to the other W203 parts numbers I posted:

A2038205785
A2038206785
A2038207585
A2038200385

In MBZ part number terms, the 7th and 8th numeric digits usually indicate a revision to a part, so "82" shoudl be later than "75", "67", "57" or "03".

OK, so for future reference, all you did was add the VCM and the stalk, and everything worked? Any photos of the install (i not maybe some tips)?
