2004 CLK 55 AMG convertable

Hello every one , sorry if im on the wrong page but im a little lost in here at the moment i just joined up because i put down a deposit on a 2004 CLK 55 AMG convertable which i should be picking up this week , cant wait .bought if from a dealership , took it for a good test drive feels and drives beautifully . just had a call from the mechanic who will issue a roadworthy for it and said he went through the whole vehicle and he gave it 2 thumbs up saying it is in great shape for its age and klms so was pleasing .....

I know from reading other threads that the CLK has been plagued with some issues , just wondering if i should be looking out for anything with this model . i understand cars are cars and anything can go wrong but is there any serious issues to look out for ...thanks

The CLK55 is a great car. It's a solid transmission and engine combo. Other than normal maintenance, there is really nothing to be too concerned about.

HEY Rod , thanks for the feed back , just picked up the car yesterday and have taken it on a few runs and gotta say really feels good , smooth and the power is just awesome , i guess thats why we pay a little extra for the AMG badge , but worth it ...took it for a drive tonight to se how the lights work and noticed the front left bi xenon headlight was flickering on and off . i will take it back to dealership for repairs as it has a 3 month warranty , other than that so far so good ...just need some sunny days ...

Rodney , just one more thing , was reading a few posts in the forum and regarding balance shaft issues , is this something affecting the 2004 clk 55 amg engine ??...My vehicle has travelled 160000klms so probably would have failed by now ffor the previous owner ...if it did no dought they would repair it with parts that have been upgraded...??..the vin is WDB2094762T037855

thanks Rod ...

There are no balance shaft worries on any of the AMG models. The balance shaft issues affected the M272 and M273 engines. Your CLK55 uses an M113 engine.

Annoying glove box mechanism is about all you need to worry about in these cars. Enjoy!
