CLK 500 Coolant temperature
Hi everyone, first post for me. I would appreciate any advice or comment regarding the title subject.
I'm looking at purchasing a 2003 CLK 500. I notice that the coolant temperature stabilizes at 100 deg/Celsius. Not having had any experience with this model (I've had several earlier SEL's) I'm wondering if this is high or normal operations for this type.
Thanks in advance for any input.
With regards,
Tranquillo

This is normal for a Hot Humid Florida day. At night and when on the highway the temp drops to about 80-90 for me. But yes 100deg. Is normal for City driving on my end at least. :/

[QUOTE=clkcadet;6198017]Mine hangs around 80-90 even in the hot summer months. 100 is not out of the ordinary though[/QUOTE
Hi Cadet,
Thank you for your comments and your time.
I've since purchase the car, ....what a machine ...
I noticed it drops to between 80-90 in the evenings. Fantastic driving pleasure.
Cheers

hmm..I dont know i have taken mine to a reputable mb shop with the same concern and they said it was normal for peak temps in this weather. Mine drops to the 80-90 mark when on highway and afternoon normal driving.

It appears to be a normal operating range. I was also told by a specialist that this is normal and on a recent 2000km trip it behaved perfectly, the open road temp. range settled on 80 degrees and than stabilized at 100 for the city, stop start style of driving.
I appreciate all your comments.

Yup sounds normal. Mine hangs around 90+ in the summer, a 100 when its real hot. At nights its down to 80 so ur right where it should be
