bulb replacement with led bulbs
so i was really thinking to get the led tails but my original oem housings of my clk(pre face) are in mint condition so what i am doing is to replace each bulb with led bulb with canbus (so itll be error free)
i ordered some to begin testing (really cheap ones from bay)
is there any one that did the hole replacement?
1)bulbs seem all to be tranparent (no coloured)
2) the main tail light seems to be two in one -substitute and main
3)all of them say 12volt 21watt so equal will be anything above 2watt from led
4)should i try to find smd ones(the ones that are made from many led lights and compose the unit
5) they must be 360 degree light emit cause thats how the seem to be the oem.
can i buy more powerfull ones to put?
any input or help please.
i am sure its gonna look very cool.
this is the oem bulbs as theyr placed on bulb holder.

Hi Johny,
I also ordered some cheap LED's for the intrior and a few for exterior. Waiting for them to get here. Did you install yours? Did they work? Did you have any issue with any of them or any light in particular? I'm searching for information about this topic but it seems like most people just changed the rear light assembly to LED not only the bulbs.

For the moment I ordered LED's for the interior, license plate light and the front day time running lights. I want to see how these work first then I will try to change the tail light bulbs to LED's. I ordered some super cheap LED's from aliexpress. When I will receive them I'll give you the details of what worked and what didn't.

what up fellas. thought id add my input...
I havent changed out anything in the tails but have done interior, and the little ones on the bottom of the door without issues. I did have LEDs for the license plate but the ones i ordered were too big (they had heat sinks on them) and i ended up cutting off a fin or two to fit. didnt have issues either but the license plate lights didnt last as long as id like so i went back to reg lights
lemme know how the tails work out

couldn't find the right combination of led bulbs that didn't cause errors, so I changed out the whole rear lenses

needed new bulb holders, fishcake supplied me with the part numbers.
no problems
car's tucked away for the winter - she doesn't like cold.... so I couldn't take pics of the new rear lights

Hi Guys,
So today the first batch of LED's arrived. These are the festoons. Of course quickly I had to see how they look so I changed them on the license plate. Honestly I really like how they look. In comparison with the normal bulb it's so much brighter and whiter.
FYI. My car is very dirty and so are the lenses and I made the picture with my phone so sorry for the image quality

These are the LED's I used. They are dirt cheap/no error and free shipping. You need to wait a bit until you receive your order but hey that's OK with me

@NSKPhila
With which of the rear LED's did you have issues? Were there any that worked great or did all of them give you errors or hyperflash ?
I read that they do cause headaches but I also read posts from people that say they work perfect. Gonna try to change them later on, maybe I'll have luck with them.

Here's what I tried...hopefully it helps somebody:
- AZN Optics side markers/parking lights/license plate: No errors, failed quickly. The interior/door ones still work.
- Generic eBay sides/parking: some generated errors, some didn't. Samsung based ones lasted a lot longer than generic Chinese ones.
- iJDMTOY sides/parking: great quality and good output but failed rather quickly as well.
This is what I am using now without errors:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LED-LICENSE-PLATE-LIGHTS-Module-Mercedes-W209-C209-A209-CLK-212-/400750797975?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d4e9be497&vxp=mtr
The LED tails are picky about installing LED reverse lights and indicators. It probably has something to do with the built in resistors. You can get the indicators to work without errors but, in my case, one is brighter than the other. No luck with the reverse lights yet and I am too lazy to look into it
If you're getting LEDs with heat sinks for the plate lights make sure they don't short out the contacts with the heat sink. That causes them to fail quickly. Just go with the modules I posted above.
