Bye CLK 😢 flood damage

Asked every1 it's not repairable but still hoping lol. Drove into a puddle of water and the design of this intake system filled up both air filters with water. No need to worried about my MAF sensor being intermittent (P0104) any more lol. All that work gone, post pics later on today. Anyone here knows about insurance rates going up after I make this claim? So far 3 guys said no but gotta make sure, any1 else had this happened to them? Got a 2013 GLK 350 as a rental nice but not the same, I was told maybe if they have a c350 but I want a 2 door lol!!!

Side note does my 2003 CLK500 have a anti-syphon thing? I put a full tank and since ill probably won't get it fixed/back might as well get my gas money lol

I don't believe so...not without replacing the engine...

Did the engine stop when you hit the water or did you turn it off? I've seen a few situations like this, some so bad the connecting rods snapped and came out of the block.

Engine stopped when I hit the water, tried to restart it but no luck.

As for parts got 19" rims and tires, speakers, double din DVD deck, sub, amp, lowering springs, and a brabus exhuast, lets see what my insurance says before I take anything out lol

Sorry to hear that. I am still not sure, was it an aftermarket intake or stock?

I didn't think insurance covered these sorts of mechanical breakdowns or do you have mechanical insurance?

Oh sorry, yeah stock intake stock filters, it's soaking wet (filters) when I opened the hood to c if it actually went in. Trading the GLK350 for a 2014 BMW 325i or should I just keep this?

Still no update since the flood, hopefully my insurance just replaces the motor and I'm good to go, any1 know how much a motor swap would cost?

Unfortunately as these cars get on a bit there are probably more and more second hand engines popping up for sale. Swapping an engine mechanically isn't a big deal. Half the cost will probably be all the MB fluids. Not sure about the electronics.

Sorry to ask again but what sort of insurance do you have?

Here anyway, a standard insurance policy covers flood damage when the whole car is submerged but I wouldn't think they would cover water in the engine while driving. Mechanical insurance would. I hope you get it covered regardless.

It's ok so many questions guess I missed this 1 haha. I got full coverage, this is under comprehensive, more than likely it's a write off but I'm still hoping for the best. Not sure what to buy next.

Water didn't even reach the side skirts but other cars were going the opposite direction so I guess it's splashed over my grille and sucked it from there.

It's a write off, they didn't bother trying to fix it.
