double DIN radio

I want to change original radio for 2 DIN. I know I need the radio fascia for installing an after market car stereo. But I am not sure if I need also 2 Din installation dash frame kit or the new 2 DIN radio can be installed without it.
Does anybody have experience with it?

Mike, is this for a W209 CLK? Your profile says you have a MY1998 E300. If it is for a W209 CLK, what model and year? That will make a difference.

Hi Rudeney, I´m sorry for misunderstanding. I have W210 but my brother has W209 CLK model 270 CDi, 2002 and I want to install the radio to his car.

OK, got it! In that case, yes, you just need a double-DIN installation kit. And since it's a MY2002 (pre-facelift), the W203 kit will work, too (it may be easier to find). I installed a Pioneer AVIC in our C240 with a kit I bought on eBay for about $30.
