Connecting iPhone 5 or 6 to iPod integration kit
Hi, this must be an obvious question, but I have not been able to find a definitive answer on the forums. How does one connect an iPhone 5 or 6, with the lightning connector, to the iPod integration cable in the glove compartment? What adaptors actually work for a 2009 CLK?
Apologies if this has been discussed before - if so, pls point me to the right thread.
Thank you

There are companies (including Apple) that make Lightning to 30-pin adapters. I don't know if this works with the car's interface, though. I have read reports where these don't work well with many "interface" devices that need to control the iPod and access digital information.

I would look into the tune2air 30pin to Bluetooth adapter. Works flawlessly on my clk550/350 and my friends Audi Q5

The iPod kits that came with the car run on 12volts (old design vs 5 volt usb current design). So if you have the OEM interface you either have to swap out the cable for the new one (i think the plug is black vs white), part # is on the forum, should be $60 or so I think, or get a 12volt to 5volt adapter like this:
Then you would need a 30 pin to lightning adapter OR like omega said a a2dp bluetooth add-on (some even work on 12volt and 5volts, some only on newer 5volt) like this one (which I believe only works on 5volt):
I've heard mix reviews on all these setups and trying them. I think the quality of the parts used are the issue as you see a lot of knockoff voltage adapters and plug adapters. I'd go with a reputable 3rd party name (the MB 12volt to 5volt adapter like the scosche goes for at least $45 online).

I had bought the tenergy Bluetooth adapter and a no brand 12v to 5v adapter so instead of hooking up my phone or idevice to the glove compartment it can sync Bluetooth and stream pandora, spottify, and what not. Sadly on my clk350 2009 the tenergy pairs up but i get an error. I think it's because of the adapter. I will be buying another adapter to make it work hopefully.

You get the MB 5v adapter and then you get the Apple oem 30 pin to lightning adapter no aftermarket stuff I did it on a c300 2008 and it works on the 2006 clk too... And the apple adapter is the one with a three inch or so lightning wire. Not the compact plug style (you need to have the adapter that allows for video and data transfer though you will only get data transfer as far as I can tell) OEM MB and OEM Apple only
