2006 CLK350! 80k miles SERVICE B
howdy yall! Ive got a pewter 06 CLK350 that needs its 80k mile service B i was wondering what EXACTLY do the mechanics do at the service B interval? i take my car to Mercedes of Tysons corner in northern virginia they seem to have been pretty cool ive been taking my car there since i bought it from them back in 2011 i was curious if any of you members know a independent shop in northern VA to take my benz to that you guys have had good exprince with! from what ive heard service B is pricey thats why i ask!

Exactly. You can get quote un-quote "service B" or a "service A" done for quite a bit cheaper, just need the list of stuff that they do, and ask your mechanic to do the same.
For me (living in Korea), I was asked to dish out around $115 for the front wipers to be changed, instead I just went online and got a pair sent to my house for around $55, and that was the expensive kind too. Some wipers will run you as low as 15-20 etc...

A and B services generally do not include any problem diagnosis with SDS. They include an oil changed a various inspections, plus other work as determined by age and/or mileage as indicated in the service manual. The inspections are important, but not really worth the inflated prices dealers charge. Same goes for the other work - things like transmission service, brake fluid changes, etc. These are important, but dealers charge dearly. My advice is to either DIY (if you are so inclined) or find a reputable shop that will do it for less than the dealer prices.
