That is the "cell phone prewiring" harness. That, plus about $1200 in parts and a day's labor and you can connect a cell phone via the OEM interface.

Interesting, my center console is practically useless as they stuck a motor (I assume for the power seats) in the console. I don't even have the prewiring harness =P

What?? Who is "they" - you think your car came from the factory with a motor in the center console? You need to post a picture of this.

By they I meant the designers. Honestly, I thought that's where they put it... I thought it was stupid

I got the car second-hand so maybe it's something else??

I'll post a picture as soon as I pick it up from the home

A seat motor has to be connected to the mechanism that runs the seat, so it can't be that. The only thing in there from the factory is if you have the phone hookup already installed - the $1,200 worth of parts Rodney was referring to. That looks like a fat TV remote but with no buttons.

Interesting, upon initial opening it was just a hump that was covered by a plastic shell that said don't touch and took up 90% of the console.

I took that plastic cover off a week or so ago and there was just a motor chilling under it..

Weird about that AC blower. STAR always says problem with rear blower disregard if not installed. I wonder what it does exactly and why we don't all have it. And how we can make sure we have or not have it.

Finally got around to taking the picture. Yidney I think you are correct but why is it that mine has it and others, such as yourselves, don't?

Well i can only imagine how powerfull the AC is back there! Mines pretty powerful without a blower, at least compared to other cars with a rear AC outlet.

I actually have yet to try it When I get some guests back there I'll check to see if they look like this

That really is weird that such a thing would be an option. I've never seen one before. It's especially weird since the air comes out back there with pretty good force without any extra help. I can't imagine needing more.

I'd be interested if TheNoble can post his VIN so that we check the data card for the car and see if there is mention of such equipment.

I see nothing in your datacard that mentions this. The only somewhat unusual option you have are rear side airbags. I can't even find a part or diagram for this motor in EPC!

It's a CLK 320 so you have the M112 engine.

wut. That is so strange. Maybe it was a dealership addon? It seems so useless....

Rodney,

Is rear-side airbags not standard?? I thought was across the board on all W209 models.

I'm going to see If I have some paperwork and dealership sales records from the gentlemen I bought this car off of. Maybe that'll shed some light
