Winter Driving
New member here, from Michigan. Just picked-up a new (to me) 2008 CLK550. This thing handles like a pig on skates with the smallest amount of snow on the road.
What is the best recommendation for tire/wheel combo, or do I simply park this and buy a winter beater? Traded-in a Volvo AWD. This morning I was missing the Volvo - lol
Thanks!

Drive mine 365 days a year in Denver - or unless there is more than about 4 inches of snow. I have Continental DWS tires on all year round. No comparison to AWD of course, but I grew up near Toledo driving rear wheel drive cars so it seems normal to me. More fun than front wheel drive.

you will definitely feel like your on skates in any rear wheel drive car.. a 550 on snow? that's more like chicken on skates! snow tires make a big difference; but I don't have any experience with that on rear wheel drive cars. usually when it snows here its drifting time!! Snow lasts around 2 weeks here and it snows a good meter in my location about 3-5 times a winter season. not worth buying tires.. why ruin all the funn?

Wife drives her CLK500 800-1000 miles per week in Michigan winters with winter tires & wheels.
She uses the comfort transmission setting to take off in 2nd gear, and sometimes uses 3rd as I taught her, and she has very little problems.
Over 6" of snow, I drive her.
