Whatever you buy, I highly recommend a pre-purchase inspection. I personally prefer to have a dealer inspect cars, while others prefer a good indy. Yes, this may result in a couple of hundred dollars spent on a car you don’t buy. The upside for that is, it only cost a couple of hundred dollars to determine the car you decided against was going to cost a lot more than the purchase price. If you choose to inspect it yourself, here’s a list of the stuff that’s commonly looked at. BTW, if you buy a 350 without an inspection and then discover the motor has to come out for a somewhat common issue, well, you were warned.
Although $11K may physically put a car in your garage, additional funds will be required to keep it running. Aside from oil and air filter changes, there is a fair amount of normal maintenance that can be pricey. The easy / not overly expensive ones are fuel filters, non-AMG brakes, brake fluid, and coolant. Transmission fluid changes aren’t bad. Plugs, flex discs, and motor mounts can be an eye opening experience for those who can’t do the work themselves. If you can do the work yourself, these aren't expensive. Even if you can do the work, AMG brakes, specifically the "normal wear rotors" are expensive.
When maintained, a Mercedes-Benz can be incredibly dependable. For some, the largest long term expense is tires. Cars that have been half-maintained, wrecked and semi repaired, or have had substandard electrical work (typically by someone who started off needing a boomin’ system) can be very expensive to diagnose and repair.
I hope this helps
