CLK550 rear shocks
I have a 2007 CLK550 cabriolet. I am trying to replace the rear shocks. I am having trouble locating the upper shock mount. Is it located in the wheel well behind the sound deadening cover (carpet)?? I removed the covers in the trunk area and couldn't locate it.

really???
you can't figure out where the top of the shocks hit the cabin?
you will need a small vise grip to remove the top retaining nuts
go with B8's for replacement

Waveterrorist....Your response was a waste of time. Are you trying to impress yourself? You have a coupe. The vehicle I have is a convertible. Have you even looked inside the well area where the top is stored? Huge difference. And yes, I did follow along the line where the top of the shock transfers to the body.

I checked WIS and there are no special notations for rear shock removal for the cabriolet. This means the top nut should be accessible from inside the trunk. Looking at mine, it would seem to be right behind the back seat. You might try partially opening the soft top so that the cover is raised and then investigate through there. I suspect you just remove the carpet paneling. Again, though, WIS has no specific instructions.
