How to achieve the best 0-60 timing in my clk ?

i have a 04 clk 320 and i just bought it from about 4 days. I wanna know how to get the best 0-60 timing ? Is it by revving the engine to 3000(peak torque)rpm then flooring it with S mode ? And whats the difference between C and S mode ? And what the official 0-60 timing and how near did anyone get to it.
Thank u in advance
This is my first ever post here

Your best 0-60 will be in S mode, then use the TouchShift select "manual" 1st gear, and floor it. Of course you need good tires because if you get any wheelspin, traction control will kick in and you'll just sit. MBZ claims 7.4 seconds 0-60 for your CLK320. MBZ is notorious for underestimating their performance specs. If everything is in top condition, you should be able to get closer to 7.

Rodney, my car is a 550 and there may be some differences between the 3xx and 5xx versions of the clk. What I've experienced (or imagined) is the car accelerates to beyond 60 quicker when I select "S" and manually set the gear to 2nd. It starts in 1st anyway but will shift to 2nd before redline, avoiding wasted time bouncing off the rev limiter. I can never shift it manually quick enough from 1st to 2nd in a WOT situation.

Generally I'm not WOT after 60-70 (ramp entry ), but I'll have to try "S" + 3rd sometime.

My car is tuned, so what I experience may very well be different than what I would experience with the car stock.

Your thoughts?

Setting a specific gear on the TouchShift/AGS generally just "limits" the car to that as the maximum gear. Prior to MY2002, the AGS had a hard rev limiter. When you reached redline, such as leaving the TouchShift in 1st, the ECU would cut fuel and you'd get that "bounce". The system would not automatically upshift to the next gear and you were stuck at that maximum speed in that selected gear. In MY2002, it was changed so that when it reaches redline, it simply calls on the TCU for an upshift. As long as the TCU shifts quickly enough, the engine won't go past reline and you'll keep going. If your car is "bouncing", then you may have a problem with the AGS, TCU, or, you may need the TCU calibrated (which has to be done interactively in SDS).

The 722.9 transmission has some special features over the 722.6. it can skip gears when shifting and it can call for faster shifts when needed, and provide slower more "slipped" shifts when needed for comfort. Putting it in 1st and keeping WOT should tell it to "shift fast". When you start in 2nd, keeping WOT will likely do the same thing, but I know it does in 1st.

Thanks Rodney..... I do on occasion get the bouncing. Generally if I go WOT and then back off slightly, I'll get bounce. Leaving my foot planted and not backing off until I shift up is not a problem. I'll get the TCU calibrated and let you know what happens.

Also do the throttle position reset (a.k.a the TCU or ECU reset you do with the ignition switch and pedal).
