Clk 500 ticking from under bonnet

Just today I've noticed a ticking on and off while stationary, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't, it's not loud, but noticeable, it seems to be coming from this part, it even feels as though it's ticking when I hold it, any ideas what the part/problem is? Thanks

ahhh.. the famous purge valve. they do that when they are about to fail. just replace it with a new part, not that expensive.

+1 on Daniel's post. Only fix is to buy a new one. If you unplug it while it is ticking the noise will disappear. Doesn't do anything to performance I don't believe but it is annoying as hell.

Mine has been ticking for years. I can hear it only when the hood is popped.
The car runs good so should I change it?

The purge calve will make some noise, but if you can hear it in the cabin, then it's probably on its way out.

I can hear the tick-tick noise only when the hood popped. However, this has happened for a few years now.

Boy, my typing is terrible these days! Yes, the purge VALVE does make some noise as part of it's normal operation that you can here it with the hood open. But if you hear it from behind the wheel, it's probably not going to last much longer.

Pretty close "Rodney", just 1 typo. My typing never was any good and I'm constantly fixing errors. Welcome to "Middle Age". Ain't it great?

Thanks, Rudeney.
Since I cannot hear it inside the car at all and there is no malfunction, I will wait.
