I must be insane...motor swaps

Well, the time has come when my w209 needs a new heart after 280k on the dial. The timing chain is smashing the guides and I believe it's time gut it.
The sound of marbles rattling around in the block sounds like music to my ears.

So here's my idea, pull the motor and shoehorn in a built lq9 block and trans from a domestic and run a standalone for less than the cost of rebuilding my current 3.2 motor and trans (valvebody issues).

My only concern will be mating the wiring harness.

Your ideas gentlemen ?

None for now
That'll be a crazy swap! But if you could pull it off, that'll be amazing.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
Good luck with that. It will be quite a project. I have heard of people putting other engines into MBZs, but with a lot of headaches and cost. If you don't have SDS and understand how to use it, then forget it. You won't be able to use the MBZ ECU, which means you won't be a le to use the EIS, and that kills your instrument cluster. Without a properly communicating cluster and EIS, the SAMs won't work, and you would never be able to do any diagnosis of other CAN bus components (ACC, OCP, etc.).

If you want a bigger engine, the most economical thing I can suggest is to sell the car and buy something else, perhaps a CLK500, CLK55 or CLK550 if you want to keep a W209. If you just want the challenge of a project, why not drop in an M273 engine?

Yep the boring answer is replace the bearings and whatever else is toast. Sell the car and buy something faster. The engine swap will be fun for a while (assuming you have another car), then it will start to cost more and more, drag on and on and the electronic nightmares will keep you up at night.
