Wheel centre caps
Another useless thread. Two of mine were aftermarket and faded in the sun to a nice brown colour so I finally got down to the dealer to buy some genuine ones. They were much cheaper than I thought. ~$10 each.
Mmmmm
I have tried a few ways to get them out. Now I drill a small hole and thread two screws into them to I don't have to pry against the wheels.
New and old.
Part number for silver if anyone needs it.
Slightly better!

Wouldn't it have been less time consuming to just remove the wheels and pop them out?
It may also be possible to remove them by using thick waxed dental floss. Those things are generally just use an open end metal ring. Wrap the floss around the cap under it's edge, pull it tight and pull outward. I've never tried this, but hey!!!!!

I know some people just don't like lifting the car and removing the wheels, so the screw trick on the center caps is a good one. As for those center caps, I replaced mine with the blue laurel and wreath versions. I bought them on eBay and suspect they are "knock-offs", but they had lasted for years now.

I have taken the wheels off before but it takes way longer: crank all the lugnuts loose, jack the car up, undo the lug nuts, take the wheels off, pop them out and reverse it all finishing off with finding the torque wrench. I would do this if I wanted to keep the caps but these are rubbish now.
Admittedly I have my cordless drill very accessible, and my most common drill bits sit in easy access next to some screws on the shelf in the garage. It look me about 60 seconds including walking to the shelf.
Next I am going to try and find the writeup on using the left over star to fix to the engine cover. I can't remember if they used wheel centre caps or the emblem from the trunk.
I really like those centre caps too Rodney. Same with the Affalterbach valve, cam lobe and tree emblem.

Old silver caps (one completely stripped to black!)
New gloss black caps
I just replaced the above well-worn set with some gloss black ones off eBay. First owner was in Nevada. Sun and sand. Nuff said! Don't mind if they fade in a couple years, was $20 for the set of four! Local tire shop I've used before was nice enough to pop them in free of charge
I'm glad I went with the black. It adds a nice contrast, and a little edge to this sexy sleeper
Post a pic of the new style caps with blue laurels, Rudeney! I'm interested to see how it looks.

I'm pretty sure all the caps are 66mm across for all of the last 2-3 generations. Black would be fine but any lighter colours I would definitely get them from the dealer.

But of course, if you don't want to keep to original caps, then that is fine.

I have a low profile jack also and working on my drone project, I have the car up on stands in the front at least 5-10 times a week. I'll swap then out one day. Both sets are in excellent condition. Wouldn't want to drill a hole in them.
