07 CLK350 Cab: Smooth Idler Pulley seized!!!
This morning on the way to church, my wife's Smooth Idler Pulley seized up and the Serpentine Belt fell to the bottom of the underside tray. Belt looked really good on inspection. One we towed the car home I tried to take the Idler Pulley off and the bolt broke. Luckily, there was enough meat on the bolt to wind out with some vise grips. Question I have is when I am looking for the Idler Pulley, I see some with the bolt and some without. Does anyone know if the bolt can be purchased separately? Also spun the belt tensioner Pulley and it is loud as well. Going to change out both.

To my knowledge when you buy the idler from the dealership they dont provide the bolt, its ordered separately. Its good thing it wasn't any more serious then that. Having the belt come off can be serious.

Yeah, luckily the wife pulled over immediately as I was following her. Had this happen on my Saab 9-3 right after replacing head gasket and car ran hot, but didn't blow head gasket. Anybody know that part number for the bolt?

Just came back from the dealer and they had the wrong bolt for the smooth idler pulley. The pulley I am referring to is to the right of the water pump, not directly above the water pump and the pulley is smooth as opposed to the grooved pulleys above the alternator and tensioner pulley.

So #2 in the attached diagram? That is actually the tensioner pulley. Part number is A2722000270 and the bolt is N000000001536.
