Top stops halfway, sensor S84-15 failure?

Hallo,

Having a convertible while living on a tropical island is great. The dealer however is limited in it gear and problems with the soft top are a pain to solve.

Problems is the soft top opening. I replaced the RH top actuator because of oil leakage. It functioned two cycles and then it started to behave erratic. It opent partially and after a few flips with the switch up and down it would move all the way. Video shown first full cycle and then how it gets stuck.

Now it always stops after the front half of the top stands vertical.

The dealer thinks it is the solenoid on the pump unit. I think that it is the S84-15 sensor: bow limit switch top-bottom. The bow cylinders are activated and pull down and the pump keeps running. Has somebody any experience with this sensor (cant find anybody in the threads).

Generally, if the pump continues to run, then it's a hydraulic problem. If the pump stops, then it's a microswitch. But that's not always the case, so the best way to know for sure is a proper diagnosis of the codes stored in the soft top controller.

Maybe you should invest in a Chinese clone version of SDS for yourself. You can get them for around US$500 on eBay.
