Need help!

I took my car to have the crankshaft position sensor replace and I was just told that he has to move the engine and transmission around to remove it! He said the head of the cps bolt is stripped. I asked if he can use a taper easy out and he said he can't reach behind to remove it. Has anybody ever had this problem??

Has it ever been replaced before? Because it was not "stripped" at the factory.

I don't know if it has. The person who stripped the bolt obviously use the wrong tool.

Hmmmm, wonder if it was your mechanic who rounded the bolt head.....

I've see sockets at Northern tools and I believe also at Sears that are designed to grip a rounded off bolt head.
Like this: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...3665_200413665

and this: http://www.sears.com/craftsman-10-pc...p-00952166000P

However, I would seriously consider moving your car to another mechanic. The logic of the bolt head being tightened on the block with the head rounded, means that it was taken off with the same wrong socket and then reinstalled with the same wrong socket to round the head even more. If anyone was stupid enough to take the bolt off with the wrong socket they sure as hell wouldn't have reinstalled the same crappy bolt with the same crappy socket and rounded it more. That doesn't make any sense.
