W209 electric seat not moving backwards
Hi guys, my drivers seat wont move backwards however its able to move forward. When using the button to move the driver seat back there is a click sound however no sign of movement.
Another issue I am facing is when both passenger and driver seat is tilted for passengers to get into the back, the seat doesnt move forward alowing space to get in easily, instead it just tilts back down if not held.
Ive researched into these two problems and not sure if they are directly related with each other. Any ideas of a possible fix.

Out Of Control!!
About all you can do, without the diagnostics is disconnect the battery wait five minutes and reconnect-----does the seat move the two directions???---if not bla bla

It happens to mine too every so often.
I find if I press the switch a little harder back and/or jiggle it at the back position, the seat decides not to be so obstinate and then moves. Mine is probably a bad contact in the switch.
If I select the position switch of 1,2,3, then it always moves.
But my headrest is another matter. It's just tempting me to shoot it in rage.

You seat isn't initializing. Plutoe likes to solve things without telling you why. There are hall sensors inside the motor that learn limits of the seats. When you cut electricity to them they reset and and work again, until they malfunction and the seat thinks its stuck again.
Also same thing is happening with you clydem. I had the same issue also. Usually after a few tries it works again or press forward and try backwards again and it works or memory seats. the point is it will work but its just annoying. Only fix is to replace the motor, honestly not worth it, because eventually it always works again.
the headrest issue is a corroded solder issue inside the seat back at the connector to the headrest motor. There was a thread here that xsever made that detailed how he fixed it. Fixed both my headrests reliably thanks to his help. just a little soldering is required.
