Need help on buying brakes..

Hey guys, I need some help as to where I can get a brake kit ( all 4 rotors with ceramic pads) for a good price but reliable. I'm looking for slotted or drilled. I've been looking on eBay but they seem way to cheap and scary to rely on. I drive a 2004 clk320. Thanks.

Most of the brake kits on eBay are Chinese. Having said that, I put a set on my C240 years ago: Posi-Quiet ceramic pads on Centric D+S rotors. They have lasted well over 50K miles with great stopping ability (better than OEM) and are just now showing some minor signs of rotor vibration.

I put very expensive D+S "Frozen Rotors" on my CLK550 and they warped within 10K miles. I tried Akebono pads, which I removed as they gave very poor (i.e. scary!) stopping performance and squealed no matter what I did to them. I replaced them with Porterfield pads, and they were better - stronger stops, no noise, very little dust. I eventually went back to MBZ pads. Stopping is tops with OE, but you have to deal with dust. Personally, I have come to believe that OE pads are the way to go. As for rotors, especially if you want D+S, just get a good brand (Zimmerman, etc.) if you want longevity, or, you can save money and get the Centric rotors, but YMMV.

Don't do ebay. Go to a site like Pelican Parts and you can choose among several brands for rotors and pads, including MB. I basically buy everything from Pelican now. Never had an issue with them. Spending an hour price shopping to see if I can save $15 or whatever just isn't worth it to me.

i sell the ones that i have on my car. They are blanks and machined in the US and coated, you can get silver or black. they are made to order so take a couple days to ship. I use stop tech pads. I have them on the front and back of my car, the drilled and slotted. or you can get them just slotted or just drilled. My car has seen allot of track time and high speed runs with no issues. They warranty them for life against warping.

personally i use semi metallic pads, depending on what type of driving you do ceramic may be a better choice for you, but i can get either type of pad.

If you are interested pm me

Well I've been looking at these right now, R1 concept premier series. Set with all four rotors and pads are $584. Any experience with them?

I think that you can buy OE rotors and OE pads discounted on-line for about $350. Unless you are tracking the car, these are about as good as it gets. Dust requires once a week wipedown, but, the braking performance justifies the wipedown. Just my 2 cents.

Its not always true but most of the time you get what you pay for. The 2 things i will never skimp on is brakes and tires. They are the 2 most important parts on your car. I am fan of OE when it comes to MB and brakes. In the past I have run many combos on many cars and it is tough to match pads to rotors. To soft a pad and the disintegrate. To hard and the eat the rotor. While I don't like the dust om sticking with OE.

In regards to dust, the OE pads will blacken the rims, but it's easily cleaned using any a good wheel cleaner (Meguiar's, Griot's, etc.) followed by soap and water. Now, if this were BMW, I'd say get rid of the OE pads. Whatever material they use will actually pit and stain the rims.

I have gone back to OE pads from EBC. There is more dust. I wax the wheels after I wash it thoroughly every 2-3 months. And when I do my rinse (just water from a bucket) in the garage I use a cleaner wax (spray) on the wheels.

So when they get dusty (75-100 miles) it is just a matter of wiping the dust off with an old microfiber cloth (used previously for other things on the car). The barrels only get cleaned when I do my quarterly washes at the car wash.
