Brake Wear Fault Message

Our car is a 2004 CLK320 Coupe with 99590 miles. The "Brake Wear" message appeared very recently so I ordered new MB parts and replaced the front rotors and front wheel brake pads. I followed the instructions provided in the MB STAR Service Manual disc. I did not replace the pad wear sensor in the right wheel brake pad with a new sensor since it is not required in the service manual.

The job went easily and after completion I tested the car and the braking system is perfect. However, I still get the message "Brake Wear - Visit Workshop". What should I do to eliminate this message since the front brake pad and rotors are now good for another decade of driving? Is the brake pad wear sensor at fault?
I'd appreciate any advice how to resolve this problem. Thank you much.

The sensor is a metal wire covered in plastic. When the pads are near their end of life, the plastic of the sensor will be exposed and it will wear thereby creating an electrical connection between the disc and the sensor wire which in turn triggers the dash message.

So yes, the sensor always needs to be replaced after it has triggered a message.

Like xserver said as soon as the sensor touches to pad it has to be replaced as the eletric circuit is cut and the light appears on the dashboard.

sensors are about $6 each, change all if you change pads/rotors.

Thank you very much for your responses and recommendations. I bought a brake wear sensor yesterday and installed it this morning on the right front brake pad. After starting the engine, the message "Brake Wear - Visit Workshop" still shows on the panel.
Because my experience during the last 50 years with other cars taught me that rear brakes do wear at half the rate of front brakes, I did not check the rear brakes. Would it be possible that the rear brake pads are also worn out? I would find this strange!!
I'll appreciate your opinion and will check the rear brake. Again, thank you for your help.

It must be the rear sensor, I replaced my rear discs and pads last week and with a new sensor.

Thank you for all your responses and advices.
Based on what I read here, I checked the rear brake pad thickness and sure enough they are worn out. So I ordered the pads for the rear brakes as well as the rear right wear sensor, and will replace them when they arrive. The discs look very good to me.
Another note: this is the first car I own that has much smaller size brake pads on the rear than the front. This is obviously clever but more expensive!!

NO LONGER ACTIVE
Every car I've owned with disc brakes has used larger front pads. Most cars have more weight over the front axle, and the momentum will push the car forward causing it to dive, so your best brakes need to be on the front.
