It's not just "0w40" you need - make sure it meets MB spec 229.5. Mobil 1 0w40 Euro Formula does. This will give you some other options:

I usually buy by the 5-gallon jug at Walmart, and no, I have not seen any 0w40 Mobil 1 that isn't "Euro Formula", but just in case, double check for that MB spec 229. 5 spec!

You are everywhere and i thank you!! As I'm trying to bring this car to a reliable state again. Also its nice to meet you and everyone else who replied to this post, so i did do my research before asking as i always do i just like to double check to be sure and hear out your suggestions, maybe better than what i researched. So i did buy 0w40 Mobil 1 oil that says its for Euro cars went ahead and bought 9 quarts though i only put 8 because dash computer saying oil level is ok, any thoughts? should i put in last quart or should i leave it, engine running fine no weird sounds at the moment bought Sea Foam as well was thinking into putting a whole bottle of it into gas tank and maybe later on into oil to help clean up internals a bit? maybe get a little bit better gas mileage because it is almost to 180k miles.

I believe the recommendation is 1 yr or 15K miles. I generally change in 1 yr or 10-12K.

mobil 1 0w40 is good - should last to 10k+ miles - but I change before that - cheap insurance. Get a good filter too - Mann or similar German oe supplier. I would add seafoam right before next oil change and get it out of the system with the change.

If there is slight oil consumption or leak you could try m1 high mileage oil 10w40 ...especially if you live in warm climate - but for major leak you would really have to fix the gasket etc.

make sure to also change transmission and diff fluid at this age.

8 quarts is more than enough and that's what manual calls too because of bigger sumps. As long as dash say ok and you have added 8, you are good to go.

Also, LISTEN to DA MAN RODNEY, he's a MB GURU

yeah I'm def changing trans oil and diff fluid wonder how long I'll take on that by myself, also I was thinking about flushing Radiator & putting new fluid in there. Do I need a specific antifreeze aswell ?

Do check your manual for the capacity - it has changed over the years between 7.5 to 9 quarts. As for the interval, I follow the car's counter, which is about every 13K miles, or 12 months, whichever comes first. Just use the proper 229.5 oil and a "fleece" filter.

yeah the spec was 229.5 0w 40 Mobil 1 and I put a Bosch filter and replaced all the O rings on it aswell. I don't have the manual since I bought it from private party last week but I downloaded the manual at the Mercedes website. Through a sticky here I think.

coolant is mb specific - they put a slow release add pack in the tank and it is good for over 10 years / 100k miles . Do not put generic stuff in there and/or mix . Pentosin carries a mb compatible version - I think pentafrost NF - which you can find at autoparts stores - but check their website for specific info on your model year. I don't think people have many issues with the cooling system on these cars - not like BMW !

I wouldn't say 179k is high miles for any Mercedes.
