Tune out marker lights (ROW setting with STAR/SDS)

Hey all,

Wondering if I can tune out the orange marker lights on the front bumper? I have STAR with developer mode but cant figure it out. I did it on my W211 by changing the CGW setting to ROW (rest of world).

Any ideas/suggestions for the W209? Its a 2005 CLK320 convertible.

Thanks!

I am pretty sure you can disable it with SDS by using the development mode for the front SAM. Of course it's all in German, so unless you are fluent, then Google translate is your friend. What I did was install CutePDF and then printout to PDF, open the doc, cut and paste into Google Translate.

I've never tried on mine. Looking at SDS, there are many things that can be overridden in development mode. I know a guy who disabled his fog lights after installing a body kit that did not use them.

There's hope! If you know who he is, I'd love to reach out

He owns a local indy shop here. I can't remember if he cancelled fogs on his CLK or CL. Next time I see him - and I will by the end of the years as I'm going to get him to do a road-force balance and alignment, I'll ask. But I think if you'll just translate the German pages in the Development mode, you'll find it.

Please excuse my ignorance, but why not just change the lamp and/or cover? or just remove the lamp (I don't think they trigger an error)....?

Rudeney,
i tried but didn't get anywhere... i didnt find anything relating to exterior lighting that would possibly allow to activate/deactivate circuits.

Fatz,
it causes an error when the bulb is out. I have it ON due to bad wiring somewhere but i cant figure where. Been fighting this for months and it dawned on me that i turned them off on my E55 as i didnt like the way they looked.

you can always go the resistor route... I did this on my e46 for the corner lights, never had any issues

I dont mind the lights, its that something in the drivers side circuit is no good and i just cant figure out what.

Just for my own knowledge, do you know what size resistors we'd need to trick the lights on MB?

Thanks!

So you are saying the driver's side stays on and won't go out, even shutting the lights off? That's probably not wiring - it's probably a bad SAM. It can also be cause by voltage issues. A couple of times when I've had a bad battery, I had odd lighting issues like that.

As for SDS, I found a bunch of lighting settings in Dev mode, but I think they relate to the "standing lights" - the section is "STL".

Quite contrary, light stays OFF, the cluster malfunction message stays ON.

How'd you get to STL? Control units>body>STL?

Oh, I thought you meant the marker was on constantly and that's why you were trying to turn it off. In that case, maybe it is wiring. Front end collisions that dmamage the bumper often rip up the side marker wiring.

As for SDS, the STL settings are in the Developer section of the front SAM (under "Body").
