License Plate Bulb Out & Trunk Won't Open
2008 CLK350 cabriolet... license plate bulb left indication on dash, simultaneously trunk will not electrically open/release. Changed out the bulbs in both license plate sockets. No change. Could this be related to a fuse? Having difficulty determining which one it might be. Thinking the bulb blowing (looked blown when removed) could've blown a fuse. But I am a novice and perhaps it is more extensive than that.
Any advice would be appreciated before I take it in, I'm assuming it may a simple fix. Thank you to all

I'm experiencing similar problems; my 3rd brake light reporting an error is my symptom (it still works, but I suspect the voltage is fluctuating). It turns out that the wiring that goes along the trunk hinge fatigues, then breaks. It's a common problem and is covered in the W211 section (link below). I'm planning on tackling this within the next few weeks.

There is no fuse for any of the exterior lights. They are all controlled electronically by the SAMs. The trunk latch is, too. Although this could be a bad rear SAM, I suspect it;s a wiring issue - maybe a pinched or broken wire in the trunk lid harness.

Seen this often enough at work.. it's atleast 1 broken wire in the trunk lid wiring harness and usually it's a ground wire by the trunk hinges.
