I am starting this upgrade process for my CLK55 this week. I am posting a new thread with pictures etc. To do this I am bypassing all OEM equipment as the old head unit had to go

New Benz owner!
I recently got a pioneer f90 bt installed in my 2003 clk320.. what a pain in the a$$.. after alot of research I thought just the cd changer was fiber optic and i could still use the bose amp and speakers.. well after pulling out the head unit i saw no speaker wires and went to my local shop.. The metra kit fits the dash fine but leaves a huge gap around the double din radio so they had to make a trim for it.. Luckily I had my old soundstream 4ch amp and we had to run rca's from the unit to the back remove the bose amp and use the soundstream.. Now the speakers dont sound good since the bose are less ohms.. So im going to order some components and drivers this weekend and put them in.. Probably a sub too while im at it.. Bottom line a simple head unit replacement turned into a project.. I'll take a few pics and post em up later..
Also do I have to remove the whole door panel to swap the speakers or just the covers?

Here's the F900bt fitted in my '03, i believe the 900 is just the euro version of the 90.
More info on the whole install here : https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...o-upgrade.html

Hi Everyone , thought I might ask a question here .
I have a 2003 CLK 500 W209 W/ Bose System , Recently heard static and or crackling through the single rear Subwoofer on rear deck , Tested the Speaker on a seperate source , Speaker is fine . My guess its the Amp .
So Before I buy another Bose amp , I was thinking of getting a Pre amplified Bazooka tube 8"
Now for my question .
Does the Bose Amp in the trunk , power the entire System or the Sub alone
Would I be able to install the bazooka to the existing Tele Command System radio / Cd Ect ?
Thanks for any input

There is a single Bose amp for all speakers. If you want to install an aftermarket sub, then you'll also want an aftermarket amp that accepts a high-level input. Just connect it a the speaker outputs of the Bose amp. But, if you suspect the speaker is good and the source of the static is the Bose amp, then this won't help as you will still be relying on that amp to process the signal. And unfortunately, the Bose amp acts as both the digital-to-analog converter and amp, so you can't bypass it.

Hi guys,
Quick question regarding this. I've got standard soeakers and want to upgrade to bose.
If I get the speakers, is it just plug and play? Do I have the plugs for the centre speaker etc already in the car?
Thanks
