My response on that thread was to go to the AMG private lounge. You have to enter vin#...if AMG allows you to enter, it's a real AMG...no entrance = no AMG
Was walking back to the work g-wagon when I spotted this gem.
The rare gold plated AMG badged W202 with single chrome exhaust tip and brakes the size of contact lenses.
I wish we had met him/her at the lights. Even the loaded up 6x6 diesel would have destroyed it.
Oddly I believe this guy's story. I've come across a few people who also got duped into buying a car with an AMG badge on it. They really didn't know the difference at the time of purchase so it was less of tricking them and more so just a dealer trying to make the car look better for whatever other reason.
I have to ask is the 03 CLK500 by any chance AMG? Im only asking because it has a single exhaust tip yet the OEM wheels say AMG on it, just am confused.

Good rule of thumb is AMG cars have only two numbers in their model designation. Mercedes offered AMG style wheels with the badging for sportier variants of some non-AMG models.

I had terrible quality, but very nice looking, AMG replica wheels most of the time I had my E550 and I only got **** for it once or twice

somebody in the area should go and pretend to be excited about the car, get the hood open, (snap a few pics of course, for all of us to see) and express some disbelief and record the guy hemming an hawing. I'd also like to see them go for a test drive, ask the guy to hold a stopwatch, and then attempt to duplicate that 4.9 secs to 60, all the while recording his asinine excuses. He should then be posted on some kind of shaming website for all the world to see. This is an egregious act of posing.
