The wheel will be a direct swap, so will the airbag. However, if you have the single phase +/- switches (OEM on the 55 I believe) the AMG paddles will not work, you will have to swap the electronics. It's not a huge deal, lot's of guys have done the swap including me (easy for the 500 though
).

So I won the auction, paid in full.... and seller cancelled the deal and refunded my $$...... he said his storage unit burned down... bummer.
I might just save up for a legit BS steering wheel..... soooo fine.. but oh the price!

You can get some really great quality aftermarket Black Series wheels, a few members on the 209 forum have them incuding myself (my was custom made to match my interior color). Carlos (2MCHCAR) has some great pics of his installed, same black interior as you.

You might as well call it a clk64.... because it's just as much a clk64 as it is a clk63
..... because it's really 6.2 liters..... but seriously.... I fat fingered that one

I own a clk55 04 and have just purchased the AGE styling black series wheel for 1300us shipped. It aint cheap, but having seen the quality in my hands I can vouch for it. The only issue I have had is when I received my wheel the right paddle was damaged and I have had to send that paddle back or replacement. The seller said he will do the right thing and replace the damaged part sent to me. A bit of an inconvenience but oh well.
The next step is swapping out my old up and down electronics, reshaping the casing and electronic switches to fit the new shape. Once all is done I will post. The only question I would ask about the new paddles. There is a large brass pin that holds the paddle together. Removing the brass pin, how did you guys do it, with a hammer?? If so, there has got to be a safer way! |
