Advice for Quad exhaust mod on 2003 55 AMG

Hello,

I own a 2003 CLK 55 AMG with the dual exhaust on left.

I'm pretty happy of the noise of my car, but esthetically, I find the quad exhaust of 2005+ CLK 55 and coupe 63 AMG more aggressive.

I have made some search including MB World and I found 3 ways to do the mod :
- MB way : change the exhaust system by the 2005 one. Need to change all the exhaust, the rear sway bar and the spare wheel compartment, etc => too expensive for me.
- solution used by 2MCHCAR (Borla Muffle and X pipes) or Dynomyte (X pipes)=> not sure it will be compliant with pollution limitations in Europe
- add a second way to the actual exhaust :
* by derivation before the end muffler like it was done on vjcchs12 CLK. I think there is no matter for pollution but I worried about the noise (mufflers à left and not at right). I'm used to go on track and I don't want to be over the 95dB limitation
* by a derivation at the end of the muffler like done by evosports and shown by Americanmade or ReZzZZ320 on a 208

I think the best way for my objective and with a good cost ratio is the derivation at the end of muffler.
I saw AMG exhaust tips (think it is the good one for my CLK) for les than 150$
I can have a Rieger diffuser (like 63 BS but for non BS bumper) for less than 200$.
I 'll have to find a shop to to the adaptation.

My decision is not closed so if you have any advice I'm aware .

They are all valid options, it's up to you. I'm gonna use a dual in/out muffler and run pipes to the tips.

You might not want to buy those tips, I think they are too small
Mikata bought those and said they were smaller than the ones on his clk55.
He is now trying to sell them.

Hello Tex5 !

I live in France too, and I have the same 55. I want to go to quad exhaust.

Did you do the mod eventually ?

I just did a conversion like that for a customer on a 2009 clk 550 (w 209) quad exhaust, dual mufflers, spare wheel well, mandrel pipes the whole works. here's what it looks & sounds like (there are 3 videos of before mid and after....if you have any questions feel free to ask.

If it's just esthetics, you can do it like mine.
Two amg tips welded onto a flat plate...attached to the rear of the spare well. Took some time getting the length and angle correct.
Modifying the rear bumper cover was $200.... Took it on/off myself.
No exhaust comes from it but you can only tell that on a cold day before warmup!
