HID won't light, dead ballast, pulled bumper

Leaving my friend's house last week the driver side HID wouldn't ignite. I was hoping it was just the bulb. Called the dealership and was quoted $150 for a new one, lol. So $30 later I have a replacement Phillip D2S 12V 35W 4300K from Amazon. Sadly, that did not fix the problem. I pulled fuses 62/63 in the engine bay hoping maybe one popped but they didn't. Moved the 'good' bulb over to the driver side and it wouldn't light Pretty certain that means the ballast is dead. Unfortunately the ballast on the driver side is blocked by the washer reservoir. So I had to pull the bumper to get to it. 30mins later the bumper is off: Needed to come off anyway, I'm getting it resprayed. The PO installed lots of tiny little rock chips all over it. New ballast from mymercedesparts.com/ is $460. So I found one on ebay for $109. Should be in early next week. In the mean time I moved the passenger side ballast over, and it works fine. So it's def a dead ballast. 2005 CLK55, 50K mi.

Part 1 307 329 072 01 came in from Ebay and works just fine.
I took the old one apart but don't see any damage.

Should have the bumper back from the painter in the next day or 2.
