Windows wont roll up all the way. 2 inches from top
I know similar threads have been started but I could not find one for the year and make of my specific car. If you happen to know how I can fix this, I would appreciate it BIG TIME!
so here is the issue:
disconnected my battery and now drivers side window will not roll up all the way. When I roll it up it goes all the way up and when it reaches the top it backs down about 2-3 inches.
What I have done to try and fix it:
-I have rolled down the window and held down the switch until it clicks and then keep holding for 30 seconds +.
-I have disconnected the battery again and reconnected it after 30 minutes.
-I have cleaned the switches.
I am thinking I am not resetting the windows the proper way. If you have the exact instructions please let me know.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

According to the C class owner's manual, the following is the procedure for re-synchronizing the windows after the battery is disconnected (cut n' pasted from my manual, ymmv)...good luck!
The power windows must be resynchronized each time
The power windows must be resynchronized each time
after the battery has been disconnected or discharged.
if the power windows cannot be fully opened (Express-open) or closed
(Express-close).
Switch on the ignition ( page 33).
Pull the power window switches until
the side windows are closed.
Hold the switches for approximately
1 second.
The power windows are synchronized.

Thank you for the advise

The power windows are synchronized.I tried this and it does not work. My windows will not stay closed. The second they hit the highest position they start auto-rolling down. Keeping the switch held down does not seem to cure the problem. Any other ideas? Is there a fuse/switch etc. that controls this?

When you open and close the window, don't use the auto up/down feature. Open the window w/o auto. When it gets down, hold for 5 seconds. Then move the window up, w/o auto up. After you get it all the way up, hold for 5 seconds. When there has been a disconnect of battery, everything has to be reset...esp...turn wheel all the way right. all the way left...roof also...all the way back...hold...all the way forward...hold

Window problem
Had issues with all 4 windows ,would go down but not up and locked.
With windows shut or in up position
ignition on but engine off, press and hold for approx. 4/5 seconds.
release all 4 at once.
Leave for 4/5 secs or turn off ignition.
Ignition and try in sequence from drivers first to rear offside to rear n/side then n/side front
It worked hope it works for u . I was quoted £350 to sort out .
I now shall look for a new machanic

did you get this figured out? Having the same issue. Goes all the way up then comes down about 2 inches. Help!
The issue I have is when rolling up the window (Driver side) to reset then it will auto drop few inches as soon it hits top level so even if I use all of the many different explanations on the Internet it doesn't help at all.. Window is acting as a pain in the backside still.. It's driving me nuts..
