New Car, New Life!

Hello all!!! I just bought my dream car!
Read no further if you don’t like stories.
So I don’t come from the greatest neighborhood and nothing has ever come easy for my family, so I’ll never be able to do anything with my life. J/K I wanted to make it on my own because I knew I could do life better than anyone around me, I did have something to prove. I promised myself I would get this car no matter what it took about 10 years ago and I got it finally at age 25. Paid in full.
This is my story…
- Dropped out of college (expensive + outdated), learned on my own via internet
- Said no to drugs + alcohol
- I’m an only child and my Mom and dad died in the same year when I was 20, alcoholism + car accident, dealt with it
- Said no to girlfriend about marriage + kids
- Lived in a trailer for 6 years on the wrong side of town
- Kept a perfect driving record so I could afford the insurance, drove an old f150 so I wouldn’t speed
- Wear outdated Goodwill clothes, but I make them look fly haha
- Eat Ramen
- Learned basic car maintenance on youtube videos, became a mechanic for 8 years. This spawned my love of computers because of the overwhelming control you have over a newer vehicle with a computer
- I learned basic website development from using myspace (yea remember that) read every site/book I could. Long story short, I ended up getting a job developing websites/front-end interfaces for a reputable company. Thank (insert religious figure here) because I got hired off of experience, not a piece of paper. After 8 months in, I now manage 3 developers and 4 University grads (most if not all with tens of thousands in student loan debt). I believe I am the only one in my office without a college degree, no debt, and a positive savings account.

and with that…

No more wallpapers, no more jealousy, no more looking at cars on the road, there is nothing sicker than an all black on black 01-02 CLK55 AMG (opinion). Only mods I plan on doing is a type R emblem a real loud exhaust and maybe some AMG stickers all over it, you know, a clean look.

Note** Yes I know there are newer/better models of clk55’s but this model is special to me.

You're kidding about the Type R emblem, right?

Nice car and nice story.

Welcome and a very uplifting and motivating story you have there. Glad to see in the end you ended up getting to your goal by hard work and dedication. Thats what matters.

The type R emblim and the AMG stickers was a joke I am assuming?

You are a ******* boss, Believe that.

Good luck with the rest of your life bro, hope it goes better than your past.

As for the car? Best choice possible.. Looks like a real clean one too, great choice man!!

As for mods..? Go for the LED Sidelights, LED Intierior and LED Number plate lights.

Get some light tints on the three rear windows and upgrade the front lights to projectors and possibly paint the grill back.

That will transform the look of the car, if thats what you wish to do?

My CLK is special to me to, I love it. I dont care how old it is, its still my perfect/dream car.

Story is nearly identical to mine. I was young, uneducated, and homeless. Now I work for a government contractor in Network Security and drive my 55 daily. Cheers on the car, enjoy every moment. Welcome to the forum!

Welcome & Congrats. The rare power of the Internet and Technology is that you can self-study and be self-taught driven by your own initiative and find success.

Don't ever let up, keep studying, keep hustling!

For upgrades, keep it clean, simple. Blackout treatment, swap out Benz logo for subtle AMG badging. Maybe an exhaust tweak and/or ECU. These cars are the ULTIMATE sleepers, even moreso than other AMG Benzes, enjoy!
