My Modding Progress

Chris took care of my block machining.
I haven't updated this in a while. I went to MIR and Jerry sent me files remotely to try and tune the car. Something was up with the suspension/alignment because the outside of my tires weren't contacting the ground and I couldn't get traction. Best trap of the day was 143.5mph and best ET was 10.007 on the last pass. The car makes enough power to run mid/high 9s with traction and the tune isnt even optimized yet. I haven't touched the car since the track day. Been too busy with the new house. Hopefully run 9s next time out

I've never really had much luck getting the outsides of my tires (rears) to contact the pavement evenly. I always burn through tires because the insides are finished within a few months. Had this happen with both ABC suspension and my new coil over setup too on my w215

THERE IS ONLY FRONT AND REAR TOE ADJUSTMENT OEM!
AT K-MAC WE SAW THE NEED AND MANUFACTURE PRECISELY ADJUSTABLE (SINGLE WRENCH, ON CAR) FRONT CAMBER AND CASTER AND REAR CAMBER (WITH EXTRA TOE) KITS.
CAMBER:Allows to actually change the tire contact angle, improving wear/traction.
CASTER: Resolves steering pull, increases steering response, with better turn in and high speeddirectional control. Along with improved anti dive/lift under brake and acceleration.
Alternative (for front only) is the inaccurate "one only position" offset fluted bolts. But these only offer .3 of one degree (1/8" / 3mm) and to change setting means labour intensive dis-assembly each time.
The K-MAC system offers 3 to 4 times the adjustment range with precise (ongoing) adjustment capability - adjustment being carried out accurately (under load direct on alignment rack).
It means also no more repeat trips to dealers or alignment shops trying to return vehicle to factory specs to resolve steering pull or premature, costly inner edge tire wear. The result of curb 'knock' damage worn bushings. load carrying, altering suspension height or fitting wide profile tires/wheels.
For the rear - there is available "Camber Arms" -
But these upper arms to reduce inner edge rear tire wear need to move top of tire outwards reducing essential clearance "top of tire to outer fender".
The K-MAC patented design bushings resolve this problem by adjusting lower, not upper arms (front and rear). They also replace the main (highest wearing) suspension bushes at the same time and have twice the load bearing area. With the front K-MAC bushings being 2axis/self aligning without the OEM oil filled/air voided bushes.
Result is improved brake/traction and steering response. Note - most aftermarket bushings (even though oil/air voids are deleted) wheel hop, loss of traction can increase. As today's multi link suspension arms are therefore restricted and can bind, lock up as they are prevented from travelling through their required arcs.
All kits come with instructions and bush extraction/insertion tubes (MB World Member Heiss Rod has kindly provided step by step picture sequence re front bush installation.

2002 CLK 55 AMG cabriolet Eurocharged
Congrats on the new house.
Moving is a pain.
Mou Tine who road races in Finland I believe reported a few months ago the sub frame bolts are stripping and pulling away in the rear in the AMG E-class. This is understandable as the E is heavier and has more power and torque to justify the performance. The CLK is a bit lighter but mods might make an apparent problem in the rear sub-frame suspension mounts.
It is worth looking into once you get the house completed. Safe is as much fun as speed.
Cheers, Gator

Haven't posted in this thread in a while. Thought I'd let you guys know the alignment did wonders. Even with the kmac kit I could only get to -0.8 degrees but it did the trick. I think the camber arms would allow more adjustment
9.71@144.3 Full stock interior in positive DA. First 55 in the 9s is a CLK!

Jrcart has run 9.1 though so he's #1. But I am running full interior and factory ECU.
I may be parting out the car. It ran 9.6 and trapped 146mph on Friday

I'm not sure what I'm doing to be honest. I would like to part it out but I also feel like I would regret it because I know the car could go much faster at its full potential. I do like the new C63S coupe but it's not AWD so I'm not sure. Already got good offers for the motor. Full interior and driven to and from the track

Forgot to update this thread. Ended up running a 9.6@146.3 last season before selling my built engine and trans and putting a stock E55 engine and trans in. Full interior and 17PSI on 255 drag radials

Hey BBenz - how's it going buddy? Sad day to see the Frankencar chopped up - it's been quite a journey. But you've pushed that car about as far as she'll go. As for me - got tired of MB scammers trying to sell trashed cars for top dollar hoping some halfwitted fool would be enamored by an exclusive trunk badge, but never look under the hood. I've got a line on a Porsche 911 Turbo S. Bought not built! Have you heard about the German Concourse in Nottoway Park, Fairfax on 1 May? You should come down and check out the cars - usually a pretty good show. Catch up with you later - Greg

No. It has a 55k engine and trans with the Weistec blower and all the other things it had. It just doesn't have the built engine and trans anymore.

I was perplexed that you wanted to pull it apart in the first place.
Regroup on investment? Kindle for next world record? Hmmm! I would not have parted out a super car without having a new project in mind. Oh Well
The Videos Live and there is the proof, I just watched them again.
Bump, Gator

2002 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG
Was gone from the forum for a while and just caught up on this.
What an awesome run that car has had. Have you started parting it out, or are you selling complete with the stock bottom end motor in it?
That launch is insane on that car. Awesome work.
