The relay is bad or the soft top pump is locked up.

The relay is located by the pump and might have a bad contact internally. I wouldn't wish a bad pump on anyone that's a hated expense.

More opinions welcome,

Cheers, Gator

I just replaced my hydraulic pump on my clk 55, the pump was rebuilt by Top Hydraulics. On the Top Hydraulics site they have detailed instructions on how to replace the pump. If you are a DYI kind of person with a lots of patience you can remove it in a couple of hours, it took me longer because I had the hardest time removing a clip from the main cylinder.

Just purchased all 7 rebuilt hydraulic cylinders for soft top on 2005 CLK500 from "TopHydraulics.com" (Klaus Witte). good price. Had them installed by "SimplySaab" (Justin Duthie) in Melbourne Fl. Also good price for labor and now working perfectly.

I was saved by Top Hydraulics as well.
Klaus is Tops so to speak when going into full detail about how it works.

Vote: Klaus in November

I had a similar problem when I bought my w208. My system had a leak and low fluid. Check your fluid and look for leaks. Top Hydraulics worked for me as well, bought a rebuilt cylinder that was leaky. Has worked flawlessly since.
