Tim's Clk55 ongoing build *Picture heavy

I've always wanted to start one of these, but never had the time till recently. I am missing some mods that I have done as I do not have pictures of them or I don't remember at this moment.

[Chapter 1 - 2010]

Lets start this off from the beginning of March 2010, at the age of 16. I was in the market for a mercedes as my first car. I grew up with them, being influenced by my older brother who brought me to the dealership once in awhile. Every visit was something special, it was like having butterflies in your stomach.

After working for my dad's company I had enough saved up. I found a 2002 C32 amg at a private dealer, asking price was reasonable at the time. I have always wanted to own one of these because of how rare they are from where I am from.

I was set on the vehicle after I took it for a test drive. I thought it would be perfect until I took it for an inspection. This is where my dreams of owning this vehicle was shattered. The mechanic said that the vehicle had so many problems mechanically, that it was not worth buying even if the dealership gave me a good deal. A few days passed and my search for finding a car locally was not looking so well. This is when I decided to look in another province where I found a Clk55 from Calgary. I have always liked the styling of the vehicle, but I never imagined owning one. This one was perfect, it was fully loaded excluding nav and parktronics. 1 owner history, no accidents and low km's. I was short some money, and jokingly asked my parents, who decided to help fund the rest as a 'your last gift' type of deal. Till this day, I am very grateful for their help.

For the next few months, it remained stock. As it being my first car, I learned many do's and don'ts

[Mods to date]
License plate relocation

As time passed, I became more adventurous after learning how to jack up a vehicle properly and taking off a rim. I prepped the calipers and had my brother paint them for me.

I did my first vinyl work on the front grille along with painting the front star.

Being very young and having little money, the modifications done were quite cheap. At the time I was a big fan of blacking out a vehicle. This is how the vehicle stayed for the remainder of the year.

[Mods to date]
License Plate relocation
Blacked out housing headlights
Stock rims painted black
cf wrapped grille
Complete sound system swap

[Chapter 2 - 2011]

The following part is very embarrassing, as this is what made me dislike my vehicle for awhile.

I thought at the time yellow was nice, so I decided to paint the projectors in the housing yellow and change my calipers from red to yellow.

Before:

After:

Quite embarrassing now that I look back at it. Never will I attempt this look again.

[Chapter 3 - 2012]

This is where things get much better from the yellow look. I changed the headlight housing and star back to silver

I bought a brabus rep grille from this forum, And I also purchased a new front lip. This is also when my fog lights were damaged, so I had to take them out.

Some random shots after I replaced the fog lights with w204 c350 fog lights.

[Chapter 4 - 2013]

This is what I think is the best year for my car. The exterior was taken apart to be prepared for the vinyl wrap.

*I am aware of the bmw poster on the wall. I had a few posters laying around that I was given. So I put them on the wall.

Let the following pictures do all the talking.

Carbon fiber spoiler installed

C63 diffuser installed, Exhaust tips were not aligned.

The finished product

Rims finally came in and tires mounted

Rims mounted on vehicle

Some random shots after the quad exhaust was done

Sound clip of the exhaust, only primary cats are in.

So winter is here in winnipeg, and I decided what I want for next years look.
I plan on going for the track look

I had to clean up the terrible wire tuck I did for the audio back when I was 17.

I removed the front seats also to replace them with these.

Authentic Bride Vios 3

Main reason why, was weight reduction. The adjustable lumbar support, heated seats, motorized seat arrangement was nice and all. However, I won't miss the blazing hot seat on a summer day when you first enter the car.

The stock seat weighed almost 58 lbs

Where the bride weight roughly 16 lbs.

I had bride rails from a newer model civic which I cut and welded (taught myself how to weld) to fit my application

I was planning on purchasing new rims for 2014, but the mods I am planning on doing will be quite costly. So I just plastidipped my wheels then painted them in case I want to preserve the look in the future.

The paint is a special shifting paint that changes color at certain angles.

How it sits in my garage during the winter on stock wheels. Air box is being modified as we speak.

Future plans for 2014 in no particular order
- LED tail lights
- Kleeman Long tube Headers
- Resonated X pipe
- Tune
- New color for vinyl wrap
- APR wing
- Paddle shifters
- Coilovers

i like the skirt standing next to your car at the auto show.

car looks great in white with black details.

being 16 having an AMG as a first car might be risky?
fast cars and little experiance in traffic isn't always a good combination?
i hope you're not a reckless driver.

I think your car was looking great at the car show. Could have done a little better job of tucking the wrap in the corners (bumper for example), but overall not bad. The C63 diffuser doesn't quite fit, but it seems like you made it work for the most part.

Color changing paint on the wheels and engine is a bad idea. Go back if you can. Think of your yellow headlights.

Bride seats may look cool, but I would've kept the factory seats.

Yes, I completely agree, the vinyl wrap was very last minute for the car show. At this point, I am just seeing how it looks. Everything is reversible or fixable at this point, so it never hurts to try.

I wanted to reduce the weight on my car, and I also wanted to preserve the seats in case I decide to sell the car in the future.

Thank you! Not an easy vehicle to build upon, as parts are expensive. Compared to my civic which I had built at the time.
