I know it has been beat to death and I have searched on the forum. I wold like to remove my resonators and possible the secondary cats. What I can't find is a good detailed DIY or how to for the job. I will probably take it to a shop but is the a y pipe or x pipe needed for best results?

Is there any advantage other than a louder sound to removing the resonator?

Ummm the 'resonators' are the secondary cats. Is there a performance improvement from removing them...ummm yeah sure....if your butt dyno can count in 0.5hp increments .

You would need to cut them out and replace them with an x-pipe or something...unless you have welding skills and tools it's not really a DYI job.
