W208 CLK55 performance parts for rebuild?

So, my 2001 CLK55 AMG recently blew an engine

but on the upside, i will be doing a full rebuild! I figured while i have the engine out, i would replace some internal parts with upgraded ones to boost my horsepower

What would you recommend purchasing/replacing?

I have been thinking to change the pistons but i would need to be pointed in the right direction with which ones i should buy

Sorry to hear that bro.
What broke on the engine?

Alternatives to OEM might be Wiestech, or shoe horning a later 55/63 mill and hold on tight!!!!

I am interested in this as well Any Engine parts vendors listening?

How many miles on it and what failed!? You're the first person I've heard of with a blown engine on a w208 AMG.

X3 now if the engine is truly blown and you are committed to rebuilding this car then I would take my time and find, and it pains me to say this, a donor 55/63. This way you can pull not just the engine and tranny, harnesses and control modules but all the upgraded suspension parts as well. Good luck.

It started out as a blown headgasket, then apparently 3 valves were bent in the process, the top end was rebuilt and now im sourcing new pistons. I think im better off getting a new engine and selling this one once its rebuilt.

The car has 167k miles, i bought it with 149k in august from a pretty sketchy used car lot so i dont think i bought the most well maintained one (one of my wheels doesnt match)

All i know is that the car will be coming back with much more horsepower

How did the head gasket blow? Just randomly or was it overheated?

Sorry for your bad luck!

Where did you get your Bilstein's and H&R springs? I'm pricing some myself. Did you have any camber issues in the rear after installing them?

@JaxTheAx -

You may want to contact BlackBenzz. He's got an '06 55K block for sale. He is very familiar with and has rebuilt M113's before.

Would you be interested in selling just the headers?

I'm curious to hear the final tally cost of the engine rebuild. Would you pay $7-8k to get a fully rebuilt engine with a lot more power than stock?

i rather sell the complete system because it a "bolt on" exhaust complete. If i cant sell it when i mount my turbos the ill just cut up the exhaust and use it on my twin setup and then ill sell the headers.

Fair enough. I am interested in just the headers, and would greatly appreciate that if you don't end up selling the entire system, to let me know when the headers go up for sale

rebuilding the motor properly is key... swapping parts from the "e55" does nothing. i put in lots of time working with suppliers getting proper parts. most of the gains are going to be from the ECU tune, which unfortunately, no one can tune these motors properly, so I went full standalone, where I myself is in control. Mercedes benz are real nice cars, but the wrong cars to modify.

You are so right!!2p

The AMG programming was utilized for every aspect of driver weather a rich old woman or a working hard drag racer. All functions are built into ECU strategy.
Most street fun is accomplished with a stock or tuned ECU but we all have our limits.

custom map files will append to the limits of the engine.
I would like to remove my winter trans image and make it race manual profile with the shifter selection button.

many software vendors just depends on how deep and how much $jack to spend.

I like the idea of independence, and this goes as far as your commitment to programming expertise in can bus profiles.
c, java, python, many extremities here.

How much are you looking to spend and are you gonna sc it? I have pretty much anything you need. Where are you located? I can set you up with a 06 E55 shortblock and AMG supercharger setup and Kleemann headers

No engine is bullet proof. I've blown 2. Catastrophic failure. But more than double factory hp

Do you already have a buyer? And are you in a rush to sell?
