Hi,
Can someone please help me out, this noise is driving me nuts. Ive got a flapping noise coming from the front of the car (clk 220 cdi avantgarde 2008)... When I drive the car I could swear its coming from the front passenger side wheel but someone in the passenger seat swears its coming from my side (so I assume its actually in the middle). The speed of the flapping noise depends on how the fast wheels are going, it stays there when I put the car in neutral and just roll (So I assume its not the engine). Also when you first set off on the journey it doesn't happen, it takes about 5 minutes before the noise starts. I work down a dirt road, so Im wondering if a stone has got lodged behind the wheel or something. Any help is appreciated

Check the belly pans for secure fasteners, might have lost one or two which would make that panel flap at speed, also check wheel wells for secure inner panels.

I had kind of a similar noise once that only flapped when I made a tight turn. It turned out that there is a thick piece of cardboard that shields parts of the under carriage from rocks and flying debris. Get under the car and check to see if this panel is loose and catching air. Good luck.
