what are you trying to accomplish? if it's power then sc is the way to go, handling would be kw.

Higher mileage cars usually have a pretty gunked up intake manifold. I did run across an old post about a member who ported his intake manifold and made a decent power increase, sounded like a big job though.
Exhaust and tune are the proven power adders.

De cat? I read somewhere that the car would loose back pressure hence loosing low rev torque.

The front half of the exhaust is the biggest problem. I would look for something like the kleemann headers and down pipes. These remove the primary cats, kleemann has a tune that keeps the car from throwing a CEL. I wish there were long tube headers for the 208, but the steering is right in the way.

Other than that? removing 2nd cats and muffler? and going straight to quads? the car has single double tips right now..

i have renntech cf airbox with BMC filters, kleemann headers and 200cell metal cats, and kleemann tune. this is not the most aggressive setup but it really wakes up the car. purely based on how car compares with others i lined up, im guessing its around 420hp. next will be minor work on throttle body and schrick scams.

i would be careful not to mess with intake manifold, a lot have had issues after opening them up.

Hey Quant, How do you like the Kleemann headers? I am getting them, but wanted to know your feelings? Do they make the car louder? You are just running two 200 cell cats now? What did it cost to have the exhaust modified to fit the headers (ballpark)? thanks

love the Kleemann headers, only regret is not getting them sooner since I had car for long time (aggressively catching up with mods since I decided to make it dedicated track car). I got them installed by acg ny, great shop!! I don't know exactly how much they cost since I was getting a lot of work done during same time but I would think 700-900 would be fair price. I recommend you keep resonator though as it might be too loud if you go with more aggressive cats.

also not sure if it will make diff to you, but might be worth getting headers swain coated and inside welds cleaned up. There is some addition hp to gain from that.

The pics i have seen of the kleemann headers show a poor quality merge collector, bad welds inside and no attempt to preserve flow. This put me off them as i didn't think i should then have to spend more to clean them up before install. They look great on the outside though.

agree they could be better, but they are best option we have. I tried getting custom longtube headers made but for what I need that's not necessary. BlackBenz has nice set being made maybe it's worth reaching out to him. In terms of sound and performance I think tegu are awesome. Before I forget, they touch steering when it on full lock. There is a fix for this but little annoying.

Do you know what the fix is for the headers not to touch at full turn?

Thanks

Dent the header or grind the steering arm for clearance.

Headers

Mbh made a set of long tube headers for my w209 04 clk55.

They are an option. The quality is high.

@betrezra, They are not an option. BlackBenz has tried to have them develop some long tubes for a few years, they dont seem to care.

MBH makes long tubes for the W209 CLK55, which is what the thread originator was asking. From what I've seen and heard they are superior quality. Waiting to get mine and have them SwainTech'd.

My bad, forgot that this was for a w209. Go MBH for headers, their stuff is really really nice! The 100/200 cell refers to the structure inside the catalytic converters. The larger the count the more resistance (and filtration) you get. you could even go 300 but from an aftermarket race cat and it will flow better than stock. You dont want to loss to much back pressure as it will cause a drop in low end torque. The resonator is a smaller muffler (if you will) that sits halfway between the cats and the rear muffler. removing it will not only make the car slightly loader (deeper), it will drop about 15+ pounds and help increase flow rate.

Got it ! thanks for explaining. But My car as what I think (correct me if i Am Wrong) Doesn't have resonator but instead 2 cats and 2 cats followed by a muffler/silencer. Its a 03 clk 55 w209... So i though what would be better? removing a pair of cats or removing the muffle/silencer? I went to a local shop and they said to remove the muffler/silencer but I don't know.. He just did not seem sure and wanted information to support he's conclusion.
