Interior trim and options

All,

I have my future car narrowed down to a few choices:

08 or 07 CLK63. I have noticed some variances in the interior:

Silver versus wood (is wood the upgrade?)
Heated and active ventilated seats etc (do they cool also?)

Can you please tell me how to identify the options that would be considered an upgrade so I can accurately vet the right vehicle at the right price?

Thanks in advance CF!

The ventilated seats just blow air. I don't think it cools the air. The air is sucked in from the back of the seat.

Options:
Ventilated seats
Navigation
Parking sensors
Push button start

I'd assume the wood would be an option

The silver trim is solid aluminum...vs. the 1 mm thick wood veneer option.

Both are nice....though I think the wood looks more rich and compliments the black interiors better. But I have the aluminum with the black interior and I think it looks good too.

That's good to know Jim. I personally like the wood grain. I saw in another post that you can order the kit and adhese it on yourself. Does anyone have experience and can point me in the right direction? It seemed the kit was 12 pcs? for a couple hundred.

Thanks

Hmmm, I've never seen that...not sure how good it would look just stuck on there. I'll have to check it out.

Another DIY option is to use the 3M Dinoc films, it comes in many wood-toned colors and even carbon fibre look and is easy to apply. It easily can be heated to fit even the oddest angles. Taking the trim off is no big deal so it can formed around the edges for an OE look too. There's actually a flat finish dark wood like the new Audis have that I like and might try.

You might also consider getting a set of used OE wood pieces from a MB recycler like Potomac to keep it MB original...as it's easy to pop of the old and press in the new. I'm quite sure folks would buy the old aluminum stuff to offset any costs.

Great suggestion about keeping original. I just assumed they had adhesive backing but from what you mentioned they are pop in pop out.
