W208 Cluster Repair
Okay, so my dash looks like this:
I did a few searches looking for a write-up on how to repair it, and a few sites lead to a ribbon cable you can purchase, replacing the old flimsy cable.
Is there a repair guide out there for this? If not, I know a master tech at my local MB dealership who said he'd show me how to fix it properly, I'll make a guide then.

Te one I bought came with instructions. There are You Tube videos that describe the process as well.
If you can do the right side, the left side will be very easy.

Question about removal of the instrument cluster... Is it safe to disconnect the cable connectors out off cluster without disconnecting battery? I googled it and found one topic at Benzworld about bulb replaceing and there where a text "don't disconnect the cables" with capital letters. Whys that? Any special reason for that?

I am sure you are fine with the battery hooked up just remove the FOB and turn the radio off along with other on devices.
It never hurts to remove the battery cable and all is reset to OEM. The custom tune would scare me though. (ouch if it is gone)
I am a Eurocharged and Kleeman fan but consult with them first.

I have not had any problem...no key in ignition.
No battery would avoid any issues all together.
After you pull the cluster...all kinds threads on how to...I just used a good suction cup and gently rocked it untill I could grab edges. There is a special tool to pull it...others have used a bent coat hanger (careful not to scratch surround)...I have pushed it from the rear by dropping plastic under steering wheel and reaching up.
Look carefully how the cluster connections are attached...not that intuitive when you reconnect.
all kinds of info here

good luck
