Shift flare and delayed shifts when cold 722.6 (solved )

I 've owned the CLK55 for a year now and had always had the delayed shift when cold along with shift flare at random times. No check engine lights or codes.

This is what I've tried over the last year in an attempt to fix this annoying issue on the 722.6 tranny.

63k ATF was brown did not see any metal in the pan or on magnet, fluid and filter were replaced ( problem remained )

65K Replaced conductor plate, TCU connector, fluid and filter ( problem remained )

67k Fluid and filter replaced ( problem remained )

70K Replaced 3 shift overlap sleeves in the valve body with the
sonnax kit, fluid, and filter. ( problem solved )

Car shifts like new and the ATF is red after all those fluid changes.

Master Overlap Valve Sleeve Kit

Part No.
68942-05K
O-Rings (3)
1-2 / 4-5 Overlap Control Sleeve
2-3 Overlap Control Sleeve
3-4 Overlap Control Sleeve

Its not a hard job at all but it is very messy, ATF leaks from the valve body for hours. The old overlaps sleeves were very loose and easy to remove, the new overlap sleeves are much tighter and needed to be tapped in.

This link shows the valve body and partial sonnax kit install.

This is some good info. Thanks for posting. I think my car may be doing the delayed shift when cold...not really an issue yet but if it gets worse I'll give this a shot.

My '01 55 has 163k miles on it now. I wonder if I should just install this kit as a matter of course during the next flush/filter?

I don't see why not. It's only 40$. The fluid is way more expensive.
