Rain sensor malfunction after windshield change

Hey guys. Just as the title says, got my windshield replaced, and now my rain sensor is giving me problems. When I switch the wiper on to the rain sensor setting, it just remains on constantly. But today I had the same windshield guys come out and look at it. We left it plugged in, but disconnected from the windshield, and if you waved your hand in front of it, the wipers kicked on. So I believe this is a problem with their windshield, rather my rain sensor.

Is there something that needs to be reset, or recalibrated?

How convenient for the sensor to go "bad" at the exact time they replace my windshield?

Car is a 2001 CLK55 with 73,000 miles on it

Two things:

1) Did you use Mercedes glass? Very important
2) Yes, you need to have the sensors re-calibrated.

1. No
2. No

How can I go about recalibrating the sensor? Is this as simple as a reset? Should I unplug the battery terminal and let the car sit?

My insurance company is currently evaluating a solution for me. I will suggest the glass be re-done from the dealership. And from this point forward, all or most work electronic-related be done from the dealership.

The technicians at an MB dealer need to do it. Who is your insurance company? You should insist that they use MB glass.

I use State Farm. I will see what they're willing to do. They have an estimator coming to see the car. I will see what happens. Hopefully this is all covered.
