Has anyone ran a 285/30/18 on a 208 55?
I want to go as wide as possible on my 208 55 and was wondering if anyone has tried this size. I am on 9.5 inch Sl 55 wheels and 285 is the only tire with a 30 series sidewall for an 18 inch wheel. I do have my fenders rolled and the car is lowered. Was hoping someone could give me some insight if they have tried them. Will post back eventually because I am going to try and have them test fitted in the coming weeks. 285/30 is actually a tenth of inch smaller circumference wise over a 245/35. the width is all I am worried about. Hoping I could make them work because a tire that wide would look very nice on a 208 55.

Not sure... I ran a 275/30/19 for a while and it looked extremely wide. The wheel was a 19x9.5 with 35 offset and the tire was square. I had no rubbing issues inside or out and I'm fairly certain I could fit a 285 with a little bit of buldge. Not sure how much different the aspect ratio would be on an 18 inch tire though.

Cliff I follow you on IG. D_smith64 haha thanks for the input bud! Will do a test fit soon and get back to everyone! Did you like the look of the wide rear tire? Im sure it looked great! Were your fenders rolled?

Hahahaha whats up dale! 285s should work, it'll be close though. Yeah the tires looked great and very intimidating.
My biggest concern is the inside of the wheel well and the tire rubbing there, especially when the suspension is fully compressed. You might want to put the tire on and manually compress the suspension with a jack and make sure everything clears before you go for a drive.
Here's a pic of how wide the tires looked (I brightened up the exposure around the tire so you can see it). bear in mind that this photo was taken with a 10mm spacer on the rear which would rub gently on large bumps. I daily drove the car without the spacers for functionality. 285s would be so wiiiiiiiiiiiide

How much fender work have you guys done? Just rolling? Mine always seems to rub where the rear quarter panel and rear bumper meet in the fender well.

I've not had my rear fenders rolled, only the fronts. What I assume is rubbing for you is the little tab where the fender and bumper meet. Too much toe-in makes sense to me as why you would be rubbing there.

There was now way 285/30/18 was fitting without a ton of fender work. Pulling rolling etc.. Inner fender liner removal. Would have been a lot. Took a pic so you guys have an idea. It may work on 19s with a wider wheel. But with only 9.5s in the rear it was too much tire.

The rears are et 35 I believe. Some where within a couple mm's of that. The lip isn't exactly flush. But it is much more aggressive than the oem 208 wheels. And for a daily they look great. Could probably still run 5-8mm spacer and it would be right where I want it. I just don't want to ever listen to it rub.

when i bought my rims the backspacing they offered was not perfect, so i had to make spacers. I just tucked the lip in a bit more. I also made custom upper and lower control arms and billet adjustable alignment arms. the rims are 19x10 with a 295 30 19 .

OG, it's a bummer that setup didn't workout. Thanks for sharing though.

Hey CJackson,
What size wheels, tires and offsets are you running? Pretty cool aggressive set up.
Thanks.

none... for now
In general no. 285 on a 9.5 was OEM on my Corvette. Of course, that's not perfect as 255/8.5 front and 285/9.5 rear was standard and a square 275/9.5 came with the Z51 handling pack.
Oranges to tangerines but I've seen guys successfully run I believe 295/45/17 drag radials on a 9.5" rim even.

Wish I would have taken a couple more. It was wiiiide! Would love to be able to have the proper combination of wheel and subtle work to be able to fit that much tire.
