Rear main seal leak

I have a very small (a couple of drops a day, when parked) rear main seal leak (according to my mechanic). Would BlueDevil rear main sealer be of any help?

Not too sure what that product that is but the only way to fix it is to remove the transmission and replace the seal. Quite a labor intensive process. The actual seal is cheap.

You are better off fitting a new one in like TW mentioned and use Loctite sealant around d lip of the seal. This sealant is recommended for flange and gaskets and comes in a white like plastic cylinder with the black part at the rear which is used to press the liquid out. You wont go wrong.

The RMS is rather common. You need to replace it. Try to find a good indie, as the Benz dealer will be astronomical.

Thanks for all the responses. I read in other fora that using Valvoline MaxLife oil may seal a small RMS leak. Is this true?

Only Valvoline SynPower HST is an approved 229.5 oil for your Mercedes. Maxlife is not approved for Mercedes. It also will do nothing for your rear main seal. Either ignore the few drops a day - that's what I'd do - or spend several thousand dollars in labor to have it replaced. However, there is no magic additive that will keep your seal from leaking without screwing up your engine.

Yep as above. Wait until you have some other major work (hopefully not) to be done in the area.

Had the same issue awhile back. My indie shop owner said to keep a eye on oil levels but no immediate worry. I had the issue fixed when I had major maintenance done prior to installing the S/C. I was lucky - it was covered by my extended warranty.

They all leak a little. Even a new one may leak a bit....... wait until major trans service (if you can).
