I have an original CD changer radio setup. Both me and my wife agree that the music gets louder when we move and softer when we stand. Is there a sensor which self adjusts the level to the speed of the car?

there are a lot of radios that have the speed sensitive feature in them, which will increase volume as speed increases. I am not sure if the w209 had that option from factory

Yes, Mercedes has a sensor to increase the volume of the radio as the cabin noise increases. That's why the volume goes up and down. If you do a search of this forum there is a way to remove the sensor. Its a microphone looking thing up where the main cluster of lights and sun roof controls are.

You can turn this function on and off through the menu in the cluster.

Porsche has been using this since 1987 I believe in the cabs.

The Mercedes Nav heads defiantly have it.
