Windshield fluid

Is there any reason I can't use a regular windshield wiper fluid? Or some sensor will detect non MB fluid and will freak out? Today I moved the car with a door open and the computer display went red colour saying that the door was open.

none. Ive thrown water in there to top it off..the sensor detects the levels, not the fluid itself

You act like the car telling you your door is open is a strange thing for you.
