Selling my 2005 CLK55 AMG - Socal
Unfortunately I think it's time for me to move on and sell my AMG, It's been a good run and many great memories.
I'll be needing a bigger car for work, and equipment.
Up for sale is my Mercedes 2005 CLK55 AMG coupe black/black
Second Owner. NON SMOKER! Never been smoked in either.
I have all Receipts and paperwork since my time of ownership.
Mercedes dealerships has a 4 page list of all the items that were replaced by the original owner under warranty.
Here is a little info on the car, its 1 of 247, 2005 CLK55 AMG coupes imported the USA.
5.5 liter V8, 362HP, AMG Brembo brakes. 18's AMG chrome wheels, Navigation, heated seats, Keyless entry, Auto sense wipers
76xxx miles.
This has been a California car its whole life. No rust, I've put roughly 5,000 Miles on it per year since ownership bought at 54k mi in 2011.
It's been a fantastic car and I've really enjoyed driving it the last 4 years, I'm the second owner and am looking for a fellow AMG enthusiast to take over ownership and continue to take care and enjoy my car.
Service B just done, New Control arms just installed.
New front and rear rotors and pads installed 60k mi, New tires installed at 74k miles
All recently replaced at 60k: Side valve Gasket cover replaced, engine mounts replaced, crankshaft sensor replaced.
In 2013 The rear driverside bumper was scraped by a terrible driver causing the exhaust the exhaust to bend, Insurance Replaced the exhaust, and rear bumper with New OEM AMG parts.
This car is in Great mechanical condition, the exterior is a 8/10. It has some rock chips, curb rash and some door dings from parking lots.
Interior is clean, no rips on seats. Driver seat has minor wear.
Installed is a Voresteiner CLK63 AMG black series Carbon fiber Wing. It's a great add on for the CLK and adds to the sportier look. (OEM spoiler included)
Asking $21,000
Located in Los Angeles, California
Open to trades, Preferably in manual.
Acura NSX
Dodge viper GTS
BMW M5
Porsche 911 Turbo
Porsche 911

While many(myself included) can appreciate the brute in a suit nature of the CLK55/550/63, the NSX offers 99% of the straight line performance with 150% of the handling, and 150% of the looks. At times some people overhype it(hence the still crazy prices) but it is a genuine sports car. I'd take it over any CLK save a CLK63, and since I don't like verts and love targas, it'd be a tough choice. I'd take a C6 Z06 over either though.

Yes I'm well aware of that, I would have to add cash on top for a trade like that
Thank you for the recommendation!

Lovely I must say. I was the only coupe W209 in my area until a 3months later. Now there's one identical like yours here as well. Pity the owner aint a DIY person. Seen the car over at the Mech here who does Insurance jobs and he owns a C63.

I think owner has right to ask whatever he wants for the car, so let's just be supportive w/ effort. After all, we all buy/sell for different reasons, so let's be respective.
For the past 5 years, I've owned a very clean 2006 CLK55 cab w/ 100k, and I think it's probably worth $13-18k, depending on the buyer...and perhaps $20k+ IF i found the right buyer(it's white/blk, very rare).
That said, i can't imagine ever selling it because even if I got $15-18k, there's NOTHING that i could ever replace it for the combo of fun/practicality of 4-seater

Good luck on your hunt.
Thank you. I too am having a hard time justifying another car based on the price and quality I already have. but if The right buyer comes along I will look at other vehicle options for the future.

I like porsches but I don't know if I want to own a car that could IMS failure on me at any moment (2000-2009).

I came to that conclusion not long ago. Unless you have a fair amount of spare cash, it is a lot of $$$ to upgrade to something faster, more comfortable, better handling, newer etc. If you are like me then you will have every bit of maintenance up to date and then have to start all over again with a new car. Nothing beats the CLK for the overall package.

From my research the IMS issue was mainly for the 996 engines. the 996 turbo has a different engine not affected by that issue. My friend is also a former mercedes mechanic so I could replace the ims bearing if i went that route.
I wholeheartedly agree. Love Porsches.

Just about all engines from 2000-2009, not just the 996. Also includes 997, 986, 987 boxster cayman and 911 carerra. You can replace the bearing on some but not all years. There were three different versions that they tried and only the first two- up until 2006 i think can be preventatively replaced.
I really wanted an early boxster but decided it wasn't worth it. Porsche refused to help out anyone out of warranty.
